A Junior tennis racquet is perfect for younger players beginning to play tennis who arent yet physically able to handle the size and weight of an adult racquet. Properly sizing your child’s tennis racquet is the first step to their success on the court. If you plan on making this purchase online it can be difficult to assess what the proper size would be without somebody to guide you in the right direction. There are a few different ways to determine what the best racquet may be for your child but we think its best to keep it to a mixture of both height measurement and age range.
17 Inch
The 17-inch racquet is the ideal size for children under the age of 3 standing under 2ft. At this age, the best ball would be the Red Stage ball and the Foam QST 36 in particular because of its size and drastically reduced bounce speed.
19 Inch
The 19-inch racquet is the ideal size for children 5 and under that stand at about 2 ft tall. It is still recommended to play with the Red Stage balls either the QST 36 Foam or low compression balls that both will have a reduced bounce. The foam will be slower and slightly larger than the low compression tennis ball.
21 Inch
The 21-inch racquet is the ideal size for children between the ages of 6-8 years old that stand at about 3 ft tall. Red Stage Tennis Balls are the recommended ones to use and should be only using the QST 36 Low compression Felt Tennis balls.
23 Inch
The 23-inch racquet is the ideal size for children between the ages of 6-8 years old that stand at about 3.5 ft tall. The final age for the Red Stage tennis balls and should be only using the QST 36 low compression felt tennis balls.
25 Inch
The 25-inch racquet is the ideal size for junior players between the ages of 9-10 years old that stand at about 4-5 ft tall. Now begins the Orange Stage with QST 60 Low compression tennis balls as the recommended ball for your child with its level of reduced bounce and speed.
26 Inch (JR)
The 26-inch racquet or the JR sized racquet is for junior players age 10 and up and stand at about 5 ft tall. At this stage, it is recommended to use either Green Dot Tennis balls with a reduced bounce or you can begin to transition them into Yellow tour Tennis balls depending on their level of play.
