In his latest social media post, Roger Federer announces that the RF Hat WILL BE BACK! A huge moment for the tennis legend as once again he is able to use his iconic RF logo on his clothing apparel and everyone’s favourite tennis accessory the RF Hat. Other than reclaiming his Logo in 2020 Federer has had an off-year opting for two knee surgeries that saw him only play in the first few months of the year before retiring for the rest of the season to focus on his recovery. This will make the 2021 Tennis season one to watch for the legend as he is making his second major injury comeback of his career.
Deja-vu
Roger Federer has been sorely missed this year in the world of tennis. Even with the short schedule that has been the ATP 2020 Season Federer has missed 2 of the 3 Grand Slams that took place in 2020 amid the COVID-19 Pandemic that has swept the world. Federer had undergone not 1 but 2 knee surgeries this year and has since been recovering to come back stronger and pain-free in the 2021 season. This isn’t the first time Federer decides to take a large portion of the season off to focus on his recovery, but it is the first time in the Open Era that a pandemic takes place and forces the season to a standstill. This may work to Roger’s advantage since many other players have had a very limited amount of training due to the pandemic.
Roger Repeat?
We remember Federer’s last comeback from his 2016 knee surgery where he took ample time to prepare for the 2017 season. There Federer was able to take home 2 of the 4 Grand slam trophies after a 5-year hiatus from the Grand Slam Winning list. Federer resurged his dominance in the history books by being the first player in the history of the ATP to reach 20 Grand Slam Titles. This time around he is following a similar protocol by opting to focus on his recovery to be certain he is at 100% for the Australian Open come 2021. In that iconic season not only did Federer silence all the critics saying his career was on its back legs but he was able to propel himself as the undisputed GOAT at the time reaching 20 Grand Slams, a record of 52-5, and then capturing the No.1 ranking early in 2018. Can Federer do it again and shock the world? Only one way to find out but one thing is certain, 2021 will be an exciting year for Tennis.
